I didnât realize I was seeing auras until I began learning about mediumship several years ago. I thought the lights and colors I sometimes saw around other people, animals, and plants were my imagination, a problem with my eyes, or a side effect from migraines.Â
Once I started to recognize and pay attention to the lights and colors, my awareness of them grew, and now I have to intentionally not notice or âturn it offâ when Iâm not working.Â
I enjoy pointing out to other people how they may be experiencing the same thing. If you relax your eyes and look through someone to the foreground of whatâs beyond, you will likely notice the blurry and bright edges of their energetic boundaryâtheir aura. Once you notice it, youâll know what to focus on.Â
Feeling skeptical? Try having a friend sit before a blank wall and notice the energetic boundary around their head and shoulders. Ask them to bring to mind a happy memory, something that makes them emotional, and notice how their aura changes.Â
Not everyone sees colors with their physical eyes, but what about in your mind's eye? Itâs also common to feel the colors of someone's aura. Sensing or perceiving color is a powerful way to understand it.
We all associate colors with different moods, emotions, or archetypes.
You might feel that certain colors mean something universally, and perhaps they do. There are so many cultural and personal significances to color. I find itâs much easier to develop your own color system for feeling into these things.Â
Letâs take the color green, for example. In spiritual circles, people associate green with the heart chakra, growth, and healing.Â
In the U.S., green is the color of money or the emerald city gleaming with prosperity.Â
Itâs also been associated with envy since Shakespeare warned us to beware of âthe green-eyed jealousyâ in the Merchant of Venice and then âthe green-eyed monsterâ in
Othello.Â
You might also consider different shades of green. For example, if someone has a light yellow-green tinge to their skin, that could signify illness (or a cartoon character experiencing motion sickness). Certain colors of green could signify infection, like gang green.Â
Olive greenâwhich is green mixed with brownâmight have a more nurturing and serious feel to it. This could conjure feelings of stability or perhaps boredom.Â
All colors have various expressions to them.
If someone has a lot of red in their aura, this could signal to me that they are passionate and excited. Another expression of red is anger and aggression. Red has many associates ranging from love, fire, and life force (blood). The planet Mars, named after the god of war, rules our survival instincts. A red rose, a red dress, or a heart-shaped valentine could signify love.Â
There is science behind many color associations, for example, âseeing red.â Researchers have found that, when shown images that were neither fully red nor fully blue, people with hostile personalities were much more likely to see red. Your ancestors would likely beware of the color red in nature as it could signify dangerous plants or insects. This association is ingrained in our DNA and has evolved into a stop sign.Â
Each color we notice and surround ourselves with will have a unique energetic vibration. Being intentional with color can help you connect to your environment and create a space that feels comforting to you.Â
I notice many people choose to wear their aura colors, often unknowingly.
When you reach for something to wear, noticing what attracts you or what colors you avoid can give you deeper insight into your needs and preferences. Once you do this you can be intentional in choosing colors that represent how youâd like to feel. If white or blue give you a feeling of calm or serenity you might choose them when youâre feeling anxious to help support you. Navy blue might give you a feeling of confidence and capability. Colors and emotions vary by individualânotice your unique preferences.
Aura cameras have an algorith to capture your colors.
Last month my wife Rachel and I got to visit Hauswitch in Salem, Massachusetts, and try out their new Aura Machine. As someone who sees auras, this is something Iâve been curious about. I wondered if the machine could capture what I saw with my physical eyes. I learned that this particular machine has its own algorithm that assigns a color based on vibrations in the body. You place your hands on sensors, and the machine uses its algorithm to create a double exposure, one with your likeness and an overlaying image with your aura colors.Â
I love Rachelâs photograph and feel it proves this cameraâs ability to manifest aura colors. Aqua blue is a rare aura color, and I see it around her often, especially around the heart. To me, this has always signified a deep emotional intelligence, a blue-green ocean that is clear enough to see a mile down to the bottom. Itâs also associated with Pisces, aquamarine, and the birthstone of March. Sometimes when I see this color around people, it feels like they are experiencing a cleansing or elevation of emotions.
Over time, you can start to build a reference of color associations that guide you in reading the energy of yourself and others.Â
If youâre curious about reading auras, I encourage you to think of yourself like this aura machine. You have your own unique algorithm, and with practice, you can begin to rely on it.
When building your own system for interpreting aura colors, consider the following questions:
What immediately comes to mind?
Are there any objects I associate with this color?
Any places in nature?
If I was in a room painted with this color on all four walls, how would I feel?
What would this color taste like? Smell like?
What words or phrases would I associate with this color?Â
Do I own anything this color? If so, how do I feel about it?
Do I know anyone who has this color in their aura? How do I feel when Iâm around this person?
With joy,
Sheryl
