Understanding synchronicity and feeling connected to historical figures
A Peek Behind the Veil Advice Column
Welcome to A Peek Behind the Veil, my advice column in the Electric Curtain (and this is the first issue!)
As I write to you today, there is a high wind warning, and I can see the black Maples through my bedroom window bending and shaking with it. The lights are flickering, and it’s one of those days that remind me of my place in nature. How we are visitors to the earth, and how much I depend on my conveniences as I scramble around plugging in devices and rushing to blow dry my hair in case the power goes out. I imagine the bunnies I saw at dusk yesterday hunkered down in their dens, and I wonder where the cardinals that take seeds from my patio garden are passing the storm.
It is mornings like this that I feel even more connected to the collective. I hope that more people will acknowledge this connection and the universal truths that bind us together. We all long for purpose, truth, freedom, and love.
Synchronicity can be the reward that nudges us along on our quests.
I will answer questions submitted to ‘A Peek Behind the Veil’ through my experience as a psychic, medium, writer, and human fascinated by the Spirit World. My responses are my opinions informed by my work with the spirit world, and I hope you will take only what resonates and leave the rest.
Dear Sheryl, Thank you for the opportunity to submit a question. Synchronicities often appear to me as birth and death dates that match-up between spirits and the present day. For instance, when I watch old movies, look at beautiful art illustrations, or admire old homes, I will suddenly develop strong emotional feelings towards the person or place. These are usually historical figures and well-known people of their time (artists, authors, architects). This feels like an overwhelming rush of affection, love, admiration towards them, followed by a deep curiosity to learn more about their lives. When I Google their names I discover they were born, or died, on the exact same date when my attraction to them is occurring. For example, I'm watching Casablanca on Aug. 29 and I begin to feel intense emotions towards Ingrid Bergman, and then I learn that Aug. 29 is Ingrid Bergman's birthday. I believe this "date match" is a validation that my connections are true and meaningful, but I wonder about the origins of this communication. Given your experience and understanding of the Spirit World, do you think I am being reached by the individual spirits of the people to whom these matching dates belong? Or could this pattern represent a more general lesson, divinely orchestrated by my guides, or a Higher Source, to teach me to trust my intuition and keep practicing and developing my abilities, and not the spirits of deceased people at all? Please share your best guess. Thanks!
Dear Reader,
I have loved the movie Casablanca since I was a kid and used to watch it on a VHS tape to fall asleep. So, I apologize in advance that I must add a layer to the mystery of synchronicity you’ve experienced. This year, I convinced my wife to watch it for the first time, and I was moved to Google Ingrid Bergman’s birthday to confirm my suspicions of her being either a Virgo or Capricorn. I was also delighted to find I was watching the movie only two days before her birthday. Did you know August 29th is her death date as well? And here we are now, connecting over it, and the magic continues.
I believe that our passions and desires come from our souls and that this is where the most powerful synchronicity can occur. What the soul is paying attention to is key in unraveling and noticing synchronicity.
So, in your case, movies, illustrations, and architecture are a window to synchronicity and a way that your soul and your spirit team (guides) can connect with you. On a soul level, you know many things that you may not be consciously aware of. Your soul holds all the knowledge and wisdom of every life you’ve ever lived and everyone you’ll ever be. The dates matching your interest could be a validation of that. Or, it could be your spirit team guiding you on occasion. If you’re like me and love having your intuitive impressions validated in tangible ways, your spirit team will know this and could orchestrate occurrences.
The question of connecting with deceased celebrities or public figures is one I’ve considered often throughout my life. I don’t think it’s impossible to connect with historical figures or famous people. What is far easier to connect with is the same source of spiritual influence they were connecting with when they created their art. For example, I love poetry, and when I am reading something that moves me, it feels like the author is speaking directly to me.
We are all connected by the same universal truths and love. We all come from spirit, and I believe we recognize one another on a soul level.
I like looking at it this way, especially because there is no celebrity culture in the spirit world, only other souls that have the same connection to source that we have.
We can pull from the same places of inspiration and feel the same love.
This source of love, the universe, and your spirit team also have a lovely sense of humor and infinite intelligence and love. I imagine this could become a game to continue engaging with, and I’d love to hear how it progresses over the next year. I would recommend keeping a journal of these experiences. You might also notice that over time, what you pay attention to may change, and synchronicities could change with it.
In the last few years, I’ve been more drawn to nature than ever before, and I’ve noticed synchronicity mirrors that change. Even these days, when I struggle to get myself outside and connect, nature finds a way into my office through a ladybug or a cricket, leaves grow in the shape of hearts, the Universe waves hello, and love finds a way.
Wishing you comfort and peace this holiday season,
With love,
Sheryl
