I recently experienced a string of lovely synchronicities and signs from my friend Josh who passed to the Spirit World almost 20 years ago. Like so many young people I connect with through mediumship, Josh loves using music to communicate from the other side. In my book, Uncovering Intuition, I shared how Josh connected with me through my radio. Almost twenty years later, I am still amazed and excited each time we share the same types of communication.
Encouraging me to continue singing has been a theme for Josh over the years. Most notably, a few years ago, I received a reading from Medium John Holland at a public event; as part of the evidence, Josh mentioned that I used to be in a spice girl impersonation group in Highschool. I assumed it was for laughs and to keep the energy high, but I’ve begun to believe it’s more than that, and not coincidentally, I started vocal lessons due to his urging.
That’s right, I’ve been getting messages from my friend who passed away 19 years ago, and I followed his advice to push way beyond my comfort zone and invest in vocal lessons, proving it’s not only possible to have meaningful relationships with our deceased loved ones, but enriching as well. I believe we are both still learning and growing through our relationship.
I’ve also learned through experience that sharing these synchronicities will invite more synchronicities. I no longer share only the most amazing synchronicities or ones that I can validate through some type of physical evidence. All signs and spirit communications are amazing to me, and I want to honor the energy it takes for Josh and all my loved ones to connect with me.
Most importantly, I want to help awaken others to the everyday magic they might be experiencing and questioning.
This recent string of amazements began a few weeks ago while I participated in a mediumship workshop. I was paired with a kind gentleman who brought through evidence of Josh, and I immediately knew it was him by the way my heart began pounding and my eyes filled with tears. Not because of anything particular that was said; even after all this time and repetition, it still physically affects me when I experience communication like this.
After presenting me with evidence, he gave me a reminder I needed to hear “Josh wants to help you in your work; he’s always available to help in readings if you call on him.” I admit that this is not always top of mind for me. I connect naturally with spirit communicators without much thought and have a comfortable relationship with my spirit guides. I send them a telepathic request when I need extra help in a reading.
I was leaving my office after the workshop and plugged my phone into my car while I began brushing off the snow that had fallen that evening. I got into the car and turned on my radio. The audiobook I had been listening to began playing and then abruptly stopped. Then a song from my music library started playing from the middle, and I heard the words:
“A point where two worlds collide
Yeah, we’ll rebel
If I get high enough
If I get high enough, will I see you again?”
And then my phone shut off.
It occurred to me that the song that played, “If I Get High Enough” by Nothing But Thieves, was lyrically meaningful to my mediumship connection with Josh and had added significance because it was the song my vocal coach had chosen for our next practice session.
I felt certain this was Josh connecting with me. He was validating the message I had just received in the workshop and approving of my finally taking vocal lessons.
The next morning in the shower, I chatted with Josh. The shower tends to be quite the time for mediumship connections for me. I think this is because water is a great conductor of energy. I saw an image of him in my mind, and as I focused on it, I began to hear another song inside my mind that must be buried deep in my subconscious because, before this, I was unaware of knowing the words. The song “You’ve got a friend in me” (you might remember it from Toy Story) played almost in its entirety.
On the last line, I felt icy chills in my legs, which I experience when something is significant or especially true.
“and as the years go by
our friendship will never die
you’re gonna see
it’s our destiny
yeah, you’ve got a friend in me.”
I giggled out loud and thanked him for the message. Then, I asked Josh how he wanted to help with my readings, not expecting an answer. He showed me that I’d have a contact later that day that he would come in to help with. And then added, “remember how I always used to wear white t-shirts?” I did remember and smiled at this.
I had completely forgotten about the shower conversation by the time I was emersed in my third mediumship reading that day. I connected with several family members of my client, and the reading was flowing nicely. Then, a young man who identified himself as an old friend of my client came into my awareness, and I described him to her. One of the most significant parts of the evidence came when the young man, accompanied by Josh, showed me how he always wore plain white t-shirts. This seemed to touch my client, and Josh gave me a nod and stepped back to observe the rest of the reading. The love I felt as Josh observed seemed to be amplified, and I know my client felt the overflow of love and healing energy as well.
Our loved ones who have passed to the spirit world always seek connection with us. A common way of connecting is through music, sounds, or clairaudience. Clairaudience is when someone “hears” information from the Spirit World. Our physical ears do not hear; rather, our mind interprets energy as a sound. When I heard the song play in the shower, that was clairaudience.
There are lots of ways you might experience clairaudience. You might wake up in the morning with specific song lyrics playing in your mind or hear your name being called almost as if from the next room.
How can you tap into clairaudience?
The first step to tapping into your clairaudience is to start recognizing it. You may have experienced clairaudience without realizing it. While developing this ability, you may expect to hear a different voice in your mind; sometimes it’s the voice of someone you recognize. But most often, it will be your own voice. Common ways you might experience clairaudience are hearing your name called softly from another room, song lyrics that suddenly come into your mind, or hearing words inside your mind spoken in your own voice. Pay attention when this happens!
7 Signs You May Be Clairaudient

hear buzzing or ringing in your ears
you are sensitive to sounds
you enjoy reading and writing
you easily remember the lyrics to songs
you can easily recall the quality of someone's voice
consider yourself an auditory learner
Thanks for being here and letting me share some magic with you.
With Love,
