Leo Full Moon : At Peace and On Fire
A ritual for the full moon, and a short story of synchronicity
The full moon in Leo is here, and so is another year of my life. I turned 43 over the weekend and so now comes the same full moon sign I was born under. Fun fact — I am a full moon baby, a Venus retrograde baby, and a Mercury retrograde baby. Which is to say, on the day I was born, the planets of love and communication were moving backward through the sky, and the moon was as full as it gets in the sign of confidence and magnetism.
So today, I am feeling full of myself in the best way — comfortable with who I am. While my mind burns with concern for the collective, I feel a peace within. I’ve come back to this place of feeling both at peace and on fire.
I took time over my birthday to reflect on what I’ve learned in the last year, and what I’m most grateful for, and what I want to pray for. It was a simple ritual of recognition, one I invite you to join me in now under this Leo moon.
First, I want to share with you a short story of synchronicity that I experienced today:
Jubilee and I were on our afternoon walk—the long walk, as I call it—down to the park. In February, the long walk takes some preparation, which reminded me of when my boys were young, and I’d end up sweating just from the effort of getting them dressed for the snow.
Jubilee wears little red balloon boots to keep his paws dry and a red coat to make up for the fact that poodles don’t have an undercoat and chill easily. As we walk, I admire the way he moves—head held high, hips swaying. I call this his trot-trot persona. He seems to do this when we’re out in the world, when others are watching him, or when he’s watching them.
My mind wanders to high school drama class and the teacher who insisted we watch all five Rocky movies our senior year. I was absent the day we finished the third one and was supposed to watch it for homework, which I thought was ridiculous, so I didn’t. Well, Rachel and I spent the weekend playing Trivial Pursuit, and I lost on a question about the Rocky movies. The first thought that popped into my head? I should have done my homework! So of course my mind has dragged this up in the quiets moments of my walk…or so I thought.
Jubilee notices the little black and brown dog before I do. He stands extra tall, and the woman walking the dog beams. “Oh, what a cutie,” she says, explaining that her daughter has a dog the same color. She acts as if this is some wild coincidence.
We chat about our dogs’ ages, and she sighs about how people don’t always pick up after theirs—the park is a mess this time of year. I nod in agreement and ask her dog’s name.
“Rocky!” she tells me.
I smile, and as we start to walk away, she asks for Jubilee’s name. When I tell her, she stops and asks me to repeat it. Then she spells it out, checking to see if she got it right.
“That’s right,” I say.
She pauses. “When I was young, I lived in Trinidad… on Jubilee Street.”
She shakes her head, smiling, as if she’s been transported to another time, a door in her memory unlocked.
So, what does this coincidence mean?
I try not to chase specific meaning in synchronicity. Instead, I appreciate it for what I believe it truly is: a reminder of our connectedness. A reminder that we are not alone, that even in our ordinary consciousness, invisible threads weave us together, reaching out across time and space—toward love, toward memory, toward life itself.
Back to the ritual, I invite you to join with me.
A Full Moon in Leo Ritual: Recognition & Radiance
The full moon is a time of culmination, illumination, and release. In Leo, it asks us to stand fully in our light, to acknowledge the fire within. Leo rules the heart, self-expression, and creative confidence. This ritual is an opportunity to witness yourself—your growth, your lessons, and the radiance that is uniquely yours.
1. Reflect: What Are You Appreciating About Yourself?
Sit with a journal, a voice memo, or even just your thoughts. Consider
What qualities, habits, or desires have emerged in me that I deeply appreciate?
What has felt easier this year?
What do I love about myself right now?
I invite you to write yours down, speak them aloud, or simply acknowledge them within.
Here is my list of things that are emerging that I am appreciating:
A compulsive need for books (I have finished 21 books so far in 2025)
My boundaries feel easy
Immense self-trust
Closer connections with readers of this newsletter (it is a sincere pleasure to receive your emails)
Less of a need to explain myself than ever before
My mind feels sharp and clear
My mediumship abilities challenge and excite me in new ways each day
A deep satisfaction I feel from my work
2. What Are Your Major Takeaways from the Past Year?
Full moons bring clarity, and Leo asks us to own our lessons. Reflect on what you’ve learned—not just intellectually, but experientially.
What has the last year of your life taught you?
My major takeaways/lessons from last year:
Focusing on the creative process rather than the end result makes magic
When I am secure in my boundaries, I can relax into my power
My to-do list is not an obligation but a future planning spell
Sharing the scary stuff brings me deeper connections with others
There is no way to avoid discomfort, so I might as well say how I feel and find joy
When I get lost in worrying about what other people are doing or not doing it is a call to spend time alone and focus on myself
Setting intentions has felt like a superpower this year
3. Set an Intention for the Fire You Carry Forward
Leo reminds us that we are creators. Under this full moon, name what you are calling in. Your prayers, your hopes, your guiding flame. Make a list, light a candle if you wish. Speak your intentions to yourself, to the moon, to the vast and listening sky.
I continue to pray and call in:
A greater sense of community
The wisdom to respond to what lays ahead
A continuing sense of wonder
To remain full of faith and love
Courage to share freely
The ability to share resources and pay it forward
For the survival of Deomcracy in the United States
Healing for the Earth and all it’s inhabitants
4. Release: Burn or Offer It Up
If something feels ready to be released—old fears, lingering self-doubt—write it down and burn the paper, or rip it up and bury it in the earth. Let the full moon’s light be the witness to your clearing.
Leo teaches us to be both bold and heart-centered, to own our presence, and to share our warmth. This full moon, may you feel full of yourself in the best way—lit from within.
If you try this ritual, I’d love to hear about it. What came up for you? What are you carrying forward? Hit reply and let me know.
With love,
Sheryl

I loved this article- I answered all the questions that you posed in this article. For me I thought that there was theme that was pervasive in all my answers regardless of the varying contexts- to advocate for myself; to love and offer healing to myself so that I am in a position to love and offer healing energy to others.
Thank you for this:"There is no way to avoid discomfort, so I might as well say how I feel and find joy"
