Can We Send Healing to the Earth?
Combining Healing Energy with Tangible Actions for a Better World
As we watch wildfires spreading through Southern California—on the news or perhaps unfolding close to home—it’s hard not to feel the weight of the destruction. The loss of homes, wildlife, and the land itself is overwhelming. For many of us, it stirs something deep within: a call to action, a call to witness, and, perhaps most of all, a call to prayer.
In times of devastation, there’s often a spiritual part of us that feels compelled to respond, to send love and care in whatever way we can. For me, the answer to this call is to send healing—a quiet practice that allows me to channel intentions, love, and energy toward the Earth and all who are suffering. This practice is available to all who feel drawn to it.
Spiritual healing isn’t as commonly understood as mediumship, but it comes from the same source. The same energy that allows me to connect with spirit—to see, hear, feel, and know—can also be directed to bring healing to the mind, body, and spirit.
When my dog Teddy was undergoing chemotherapy a few years ago, I often sat with him, warm hands hovering above his body, sending healing energy. I still gave him all the medical care possible—the healing was supplemental. I don’t believe spiritual healing can or should replace medical or mental health care, but it fills in the gaps. I believe it helps our spirit accept the healing being offered. Since my dog passed, I’ve received many messages from him through mediums, and he often brings up the healing I sent him in those final days. I might not fully understand the impact until I’m reunited with him one day, but it feels significant to me.
You might wonder if spiritual healing is similar to Reiki. While there are similarities, there are also key differences. With Reiki, practitioners follow specific steps and symbols to direct healing energy. Spiritual healing invites the spirit world to work through us directly. Much like in mediumship, we act as a conduit, allowing the spirit world to guide the session and energy flow.
A Call to Send Healing
Perhaps, like me, you’ve been transfixed by the images of wildfires across Southern California. The loss of property, community spaces, and historic landmarks is heartbreaking. The loss of life—human and animal—and the long-term damage to the Earth feels devastating.
If we’re paying attention, we have just as much reason to weep with joy at the Earth’s beauty as we do to mourn its losses. But right now, the loss feels extreme and unjust. It has brought me to a place of wanting to sit in stillness, to send healing to the Earth, to the animals and people affected—to the collective pain.
This isn’t meant to replace tangible actions like donating to those in need or minimizing our environmental impact. But when my spirit longs to send energy, I believe there is a place for that.
How I Send Healing
I believe that healing energy, when shared collectively, can amplify its impact. Here’s how I approach sending healing and how you might join me in this practice.
When I sit to send healing, I begin in stillness. I let all the love my soul possesses rise and circulate in my heart center. Today, when I sat, I imagined it forming a cool, soothing blue light—a soft rain of relief.
I invite my guides close, allowing their grace to surround me. I feel their sadness, their joy, and their unwavering understanding. I trust and surrender as this energy flows through me, leaving my energetic field and traveling where it’s needed most.
I imagine this love landing on scorched fur, tired wings, and battered earth. It feels like the wishes, prayers, and intentions of a collective, moving through me.
It feels vulnerable sharing this with you—the idea that my healing energy, thoughts, and intentions could make a difference. But I believe they can. I believe we all possess this power: to bring about change through unseen action, to surround the Earth and one another with love, and to raise our collective vibration.
Our inner experiences don’t have to stay in the dark. By sharing my process with you, I hope we can create a collective impact and direct energy toward the world we want to see.
My guides remind me often: things may get worse before they get better. I have heard this a lot the last few years. But they also remind me of our responsibility—not only to mourn but to appreciate. If we cry for destruction, we must also cry for beauty. If we grieve what has been lost, we must marvel at what remains. To do one without the other is to miss the point.
Together, through intention and unseen action, we can send healing—to the Earth, to each other, and to ourselves.
When we feel helpless, one of the most powerful things we can do is help others.
If you’re seeking suggestions for tangible action, here is where I donated this week:
Baby2Baby has already distributed 1.5 million emergency supplies for the most vulnerable children and families who have lost everything in the Los Angeles fires including diapers, food, formula, water, clothing, blankets and hygiene products, and we are committed to continuing this work for the weeks and months to come.
Donating directly to families can make the most immediate impact. «« This is a link to a spreadsheet listing fundraisers for individuals and families affected. I chose the first on the list because they are organized by the amount raised so far, but you can browse the list and choose a family to help. GoFundMe guarantees you a full refund in case of any fraud for up to a full year, and I believe it's a wise and effective way to help people.
Sending love to you,
Sheryl
Deep love to you Sheryl. I needed to be reminded of the power of prayer. You’ve inspired me to do the same 🤍
